update on carl crack

wow. so the conversation about a death in ATR turns out to be Carl. That's kind of surprising to me given my interactions with him (not drinking alcohol, hangin' out talking about the beatnigs and listening to the mahotella queens) - really bums me out given that on first impressions he seems like the most generally nicest person you're likely to meet. I'm not sure if I was seeing him at his best or his worst just started getting more pronounced after the mid 90s. Aside from nikki, whom I had a rather pleasant innocent enough crush on, Carl was the person who was easiest to connect with - on some level I just got the impression he was interested in things just because things were in fact interesting - whatever they were, coincidences, necessarily related things, necessarily unrelated. It feels pretty strange to find out about something as significant as someone's death so long after it actually happens - but really it's not surpring given how short the time I had any interactions with that band was (1996-1997 I guess) - I thought pretty regularly about those guys without any way to get in touch with them - even once tried to get jim o'rourke to give me alec's email a few years back but I guess he couldn't be bothered. Now I really wish I had pushed it a bit further.
