interesting article on turkish opposition to an armenian genocide conference.

the turkish courts banned the conference, with the judge issuing an injunction while stating the organizers are "stabbing turkey in the back" - as if that has anything to do with anything.

will the turks be forced to acknowledge the genocide to get in the eu? my guess is france will force it, and germany will to (because of the large turkish population and their own history with genocide).

what's so strange to me is how little anti armenian sentiment I experienced while I was there - however, turkey is an incredibly factious society...sometimes you just don't encounter a small group of nutsos until they're burning down your house.
