slow whirlwind
so my mom sent me an email reminding me that yesterday was the anniversay of the birthday of daguerre, proto-photo-grapher. a few things of note: Conversations with david and julia about early emulsion techniques and actually printing on egg whites, ben lord has a new opening upcoming for some of his stereographs (details forthcoming), lots of silkscreening.
two things dawned on me - sleep deprivation is much, much easier before you turn 30.
also, I sometimes forget how words become something other than the obvious in language. how hard it is to look at something like it was a foreign tongue and say "oh I get it" when the native speaker doesn't see anything to get. I should probably go read my pierce again. sheesh.
what struck me this time was that I never think of film as well, a film. and I never think of emulsion as, well, an emulsion. same goes for photo-graphers really.
